I’m the founder of Art of Austin, which I started in 2010 as a fast and loose artist collective to celebrate the incredible creative talent around the city. What began as a simple way to highlight local artists quickly grew into something bigger — a true community. We hosted a few events, had group shows, worked on collaborative mural pieces, shared ideas, and built lasting connections. While the collective slowed down after COVID and as Austin’s art scene evolved, I still keep it alive by featuring new work I come across and revisiting the memories and artists who helped shape its early days.
